JOHNNY PAG MOTORCYCLES TEAMS WITH JORGE POSADA FOUNDATION FOR NEW YORK YANKEES THEMED CHARITY BIKE
Special baseball edition of a Johnny Pag Barhog chopper will be auctioned to benefit the Jorge Posada Foundation’s fight against Craniosynostosis
Johnny Pag Motorcycles will again support the Jorge Posada Foundation, www.jorgeposadafoundation.org and its battle against the birth defect Craniosynostosis by custom-building a one-of-a-kind, baseball-themed charity auction motorcycle. The bike, a 2010 Johnny Pag Barhog custom cruiser, will be auctioned off at the Jorge Posada Foundation’s 8th Annual Heroes 4 Hope Gala, being held on September 10, 2009 at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers in Manhattan. Founded by New York Yankees All-Star catcher Jorge Posada and his wife Laura, the Foundation provides important funding for programs and grants that help families affected by the congenital medical condition of Craniosynostosis. Open to the public, this year’s event will honor the 20 greatest New York Yankees catchers of all time.
Befitting this theme, the custom Johnny Pag Barhog will feature some highly-collectible “parts,” including a team-autographed baseball artfully embedded in the steel gas tank. Suited up in the traditional Yankees blue, silver and white colors, the auction bike will also feature a seat constructed with genuine catcher’s mitt leather.
“As someone with a close friend whose child has Craniosynostosis, I’ve seen first-hand how families can be affected,” said JR Pagnini, CEO of Johnny Pag Motorcycles. “I’m grateful to be able to support Jorge and Laura Posada and the Foundation’s amazing work – and I‘d like to challenge every rider, New York Yankee fans and Johnny Pag enthusiasts to bid on that bike!”
“One of Johnny Pag’s motorcycles really helped make last year’s Heroes 4 Hope Gala a wonderful success by bringing in the highest bid,” said Jorge Posada, co-founder of the Jorge Posada Foundation. “We look forward to raising even more funds this year to meet some very critical needs for families whose children are affected by Craniosynostosis.”
Bidders are welcome regardless of geography. While the live Heroes 4 Hope charity auction on September 10 will be spirited, online bidders can get in on the action starting August 18th at www.charitybuzz.com/jorgeposada. Proceeds from the event will benefit a number of agencies and institutions that help families and the children affected by Craniosynostosis, including the Children's Craniofacial Association, The Children's Hospital at Montefiore and the National Foundation for Facial Reconstruction.
Past attendees of the Heroes for Hope Gala include numerous current and former New York Yankees teammates, such as Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Jason Giambi, Tino Martinez, Bernie Williams and Robinson Cano, among many others. Both Laura and Jorge Posada expect plenty of historic photo opportunities this year as many of Jorge’s famous predecessors will join them at the event.
