Harley-Davidson FXRG Nylon Jacket: Men in Black

Kimatni D. Rawlins

All spring and summer I have witnessed riders flying around town wearing only shorts and t-shirts while exposing body parts as if their on South Beach. Occasionally I caught a few with slippers on. However, nothing tops the two dare devils that blew by me on 95 North around the Philly area rocking no helmets. What has the bike world come to?

I know all that gear is heavy and heated, but at the end of the day’s ride you are much safer with the protection on. I happen to enjoy my skin. So if the heavy leather is too hot to handle then switch it up and try nylon, in particular the FXRG collection from Harley-Davidson which features top-of-the-line functional gear for head-to-toe protection in all riding conditions. I loved the stout construction and the array of pockets and zippers in the all black men’s riding jacket. It features waterproof fabric, action back, zippered cuffs, pre-curved sleeves and two-way water-resistant front zipper and outer shell with flow-through ventilation. Furthermore, the inside pocket system has a cell phone pocket, eye glass pocket and lens wipe.

The FXRG also comes with a removable liner that doubles as a lightweight jacket and features small pockets to accommodate warmth packets. And course a rider’s jacket isn’t a rider’s jacket without impact armor around the elbows, shoulders and back. The armor is both lightweight and removable. It also offers up a removable and perforated kidney belt. For driver awareness the FXRG has reflective piping, a FXRG rubber and metal zip pull and badge and rubberized reflective bar and shield graphic at the back neck.

My only gripe is with the two velcro straps which don’t reach far enough around the waist. This causes the bottom of the jacket to flap while air rushes up your back. Otherwise it’s good to go. Consisting of a 5-year warranty, MSRP begins at $395.00 and ranges in sizes from S to 5XL. Black is your only color option. Pretty menacing I must say.
