Bike Rhythms: Gear Up and Roll Out!
It’s that time of year when two-wheeled excitement builds with anticipation and adrenaline as the days grow longer and the weather heats up. Looking at the calendar of events, this season promises to meet and hopefully exceed all expectations with a finale like none other. Whether you’re checking out hard-core racing or your local hang out spots, we’ve got you covered.
Our season kicked off with an Open House by our boys over at D.C. Cruisers with some of the sweetest bikes to come out of the Washington, D.C. area and another Open House by Clinton Cycles (Clinton, Maryland), who has enthusiastically opened their doors to the urban sport bike world. Their goal is to provide an opportunity to help the sport bike community continue to grow in a positive direction by allowing clubs to show case community and charity oriented events and rides. Next up was the always controversial Myrtle Beach Memorial Day Black Bike Week. Once again, the bikes, bikinis, and tricked out whips were out in force.
And this is only the beginning. On the calendar we have Capitol Raceway Sport Bike Stunt Show, the return of MotoGP to the U.S. held in Laguna Seca, California, Atlanta Bike Fest, Carlisle Pennsylvania Bike Fest, Philly Bike Fest, the Summer Showdown/D.C. Bike Fest hosted by WPGC Radio, Double Lyte Posse Shootout Weekend in Mohton Pennsylvania, and The National Bikers Roundup in Fort Pierce, Florida. This is one event you don’t want to miss packed with food, fun and rides. And not your ordinary amusement rides, but amusement of a different sort. Harley Davidson (long time supporter of the Roundup) provides the opportunity to test drive several models of American motorcycling at its best. If MotoGP isn’t enough to satisfy your thirst fast-paced action, check out the AMA Superbike races with the season finale held at Mid-Ohio Raceway.
To bring the summer to a close, this year the National Association of Black Bikers (NABB) has downshifted to send us into overdrive. Rather than kicking off the season in Myrtle Beach, they are hosting an International Bike Fest on Labor Day weekend in none other than the ultra-chic playground called Miami. What makes this event so unique and significant is the participation and support NABB has received from the Mayor, the local Chamber of Commerce, and the police.
As we all look forward to hitting the roads and tracks with you this year, remember to ride safe, ride smart, and ride out!
