Marking the fourth consecutive year of Big Game participation, Volkswagen looks to continue in 2013 with the “Get In. Get Happy.” campaign. Beginning with “Sunny Side,” the campaign is designed to bring a jolt of happiness to consumers’ daily lives.

Central to that happy feeling is Jimmy Cliff, a Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famer and reggae legend, singing a new cover of the Partridge Family’s theme song, “C’mon, Get Happy” in Volkswagen’s new pre-game release ad. Created by Deutsch LA, Volkswagen’s creative agency of record, and directed by the Perlorian Brothers, the two-minute pre-game release features well-known YouTube “celebs” singing along with Jimmy Cliff and learning how to “Get Happy”.

Recent Volkswagen Big Game ads have enjoyed enormous success and popularity: “The Dog Strikes Back”, featuring the new 2012 Beetle being chased by Bolt the dog, was named one of 2012’s leading ads on YouTube. “The Force”, Volkswagen’s award-winning Super Bowl spot in 2011, was voted the number one ad of 2011 by ADWEEK and garnered more than 55 million views online.

It was an immaculate conception in Detroit for the North American International Auto Show as Chevy and Ed Welburn unveiled the 2014 Corvette Stingray to a mob of anxious journalists and owners. Utilizing carbon fiber body panels, 450 base horsepower and 0 to 60 in less than 4 seconds, this is the Vette of the future.

Luxury car connoisseurs might as well reserve their spot because the German automaker from Stuttgart has just unleashed what might be the toughest and excitable SUV on the market. It comes in the form of the 2013 G63 AMG with a 544 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque V8 bi-turbo engine, which also features Mercedes-Benz’s ECO stop/start system as standard.

Shown recently at the LA Auto Show, the G63 AMG continues a long line of AMG modified M-B vehicles that offer additional performance characteristics with bolder interior and exterior styling enhancements. Standard features include a much-improved COMAND multi-media system featuring mbrace2 and Internet access. The G-Class also retains the  grab handle on the front-passenger side, three differential lock switches and the redesigned “joystick” shift lever in the lower section of the center console.

Since 1979 the G-Wagon was originally conceived for extreme off-pavement and cross-country environments, yet has evolved into a daily urban commuter with the expected luxury accouterments.  “Our G-Class has been a force to be reckoned with for the last 33 years,” said Dr Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars. “In its latest evolutionary stage, it offers state-of-the-art, powerful engines, a further improved range of luxurious appointments and the very latest safety features, as well, of course, as its now legendary off-road capabilities. At the same time the design remains true to its down-to-earth, unmistakable style.”

The AMG makeover for the G-Class adds a new AMG radiator grille with double louvers; new bumpers with large air intakes; Red brake calipers; and 20” rims. New standard safety technologies include DISTRONIC PLUS, Blind Spot Assist and PARKTRONIC with a reversing camera. ESP is revamped and now offers Trailer Stability Assist and a HOLD.

Straight from the Horse’s Mouth! ”Our new sports luxury sedan reinterprets the design features of classic Maseratis in a contemporary design language. Its style was born out of the guiding design principles of Maserati: harmony of shapes, dynamism of lines, and Italian elegance. More generous in size when compared to the previous model, the new Quattroporte has a design that is at once graceful and sinuous, fashioned to bring out the sporty nature of the car.” Lorenzo Ramaciotti, Head of Maserati Design Center

GoPro, the world’s most versatile camera, is stepping up its presence at the 2012 SEMA Show with a keynote by Founder and CEO Nick Woodman, sharing how his pursuit for racing fueled GoPro’s growth as a passion capture company. He will also touch on GoPro’s latest innovation, the new HERO3 camera.

The HERO3 is the newest and most technologically advanced line of cameras and very suited to the automotive world. Each camera in the lineup features built-in Wi-Fi and is 30% smaller, 25% lighter and 2X more powerful than previous GoPro models. The HERO3: Black Edition is capable of capturing ultra-wide angle HD video at 1080p-60 frames per second (fps), 1440p-48 fps, 720p-120 fps, 2.7Kp-30 fps and 4Kp-15 fps. The HERO3: Black Edition can also capture 12MP photos at a staggering rate of 30 photos per second. As part of the HERO3 line, GoPro also introduced Silver and White editions to give consumers more opportunities to select the camera with the capabilities and price point that is right for them.

As well, and for the first-time ever the Global RallyCross Championship is bringing its last event of the year to SEMA. As the Official Camera of the Global RallyCross Championship, GoPro will provide racing fans a “GoPro Course Preview,” giving viewers a firsthand look – from the driver’s perspective – at the obstacles the competitors must tackle while charging full-speed around the track. Spectators will have the opportunity to see superstars like GoPro’s sponsored driver Ken Block in high-energy, door-to-door rallycross action.

The dream of millions of Hot Wheels fans will come true when the Camaro Hot Wheels Edition arrives at Chevrolet dealerships early next year. It’s the first time a full-size, production Hot Wheels car has been offered for sale by any manufacturer. It debuted today at the SEMA Show, in Las Vegas. A special run will be produced in the first quarter of 2013 – and like the collectable toys on which it is based – when they’re gone, they’re gone.

The sun came out so AR staffers could open up the 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet while autumn leaves whispered sweet melodies. Though, with “sport plus” engaged we preferred the sound of the quad exhaust tips. Any questions while we have the 400 hp German speedster in possession?
