GoPro, the world’s most versatile camera, is stepping up its presence at the 2012 SEMA Show with a keynote by Founder and CEO Nick Woodman, sharing how his pursuit for racing fueled GoPro’s growth as a passion capture company. He will also touch on GoPro’s latest innovation, the new HERO3 camera.

The HERO3 is the newest and most technologically advanced line of cameras and very suited to the automotive world. Each camera in the lineup features built-in Wi-Fi and is 30% smaller, 25% lighter and 2X more powerful than previous GoPro models. The HERO3: Black Edition is capable of capturing ultra-wide angle HD video at 1080p-60 frames per second (fps), 1440p-48 fps, 720p-120 fps, 2.7Kp-30 fps and 4Kp-15 fps. The HERO3: Black Edition can also capture 12MP photos at a staggering rate of 30 photos per second. As part of the HERO3 line, GoPro also introduced Silver and White editions to give consumers more opportunities to select the camera with the capabilities and price point that is right for them.

As well, and for the first-time ever the Global RallyCross Championship is bringing its last event of the year to SEMA. As the Official Camera of the Global RallyCross Championship, GoPro will provide racing fans a “GoPro Course Preview,” giving viewers a firsthand look – from the driver’s perspective – at the obstacles the competitors must tackle while charging full-speed around the track. Spectators will have the opportunity to see superstars like GoPro’s sponsored driver Ken Block in high-energy, door-to-door rallycross action.

I just turned the 2012 Audi A6 into a mobile office using “Audi navigation plus with MMI touch” & “Audi Connect.” I was able to surf the web on my Mac Air and iPad 2, call internationally using Skype, listen to Pandora, Google information, detail areas with Google Earth & connect Bluetooth to play videos and voice notes from my iPhone via the audio system. What’s next? Auto pilot!

Cons to the Verizon iPhone 4

It’s about time Verizon Wireless finally proposed to the best smart phone money can buy. And though their network is the best in the business, the marriage has left open a few key issues.

  • NO SIMULTANEOUS VOICE & DATA. This is a big deal to some!!! You can’t download e-mail and talk on the phone at the same time. You can’t browse the web and talk on the phone at the same time. You can’t use an app to check to see if your flight is late while talking on the phone. Please be aware of this limitation (or feature). If you’re coming from another Verizon phone this may not be an issue since you’re already experiencing this limitation. But if you plan on switching from AT&T then you will be highly frustrated.
  • DOMESTIC U.S. USE ONLY!!! This is not an international phone and it is not compatible with the GSM networks used around the world.
  • You can’t use your AT&T iPhone 4 for Verizon
  • This is not the rumored iPhone 5. It’s a 4!

I have an AT&T iPhone, and though they are notorious for dropped calls and terrible reception I’m going to stick with them until Verizon gets up to speed. The phone will be available Feb 10th, 2011 Good Luck!

I Love Reggae music so this news is right on point!

United by music to create a better world and spread Bob Marley’s vision of One Love, One World, the family of Bob Marley, in partnership with HoMedics, unveiled its first collection of audio electronics products from The House of Marley at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. MARLEY was created to deliver premium quality, eco-conscious products that embody Bob Marley and the Marley family’s values of equality, unity, authenticity, sustainability and charity.  The products have four guiding principles: superior quality, sustainable sourcing, cause mindedness and waste consciousness. The wood used in the products is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. “Wood is perfect for sound. If you listen to the bass, [you hear that it] carriers a lot of impact,” said Rohan Marley, son of the late Bob Marley.  MARLEY is comprised of three collections — Jammin’, Freedom, and Destiny — and features earbuds, headphones, docking stations, speakers and boom boxes.

Keeping in line with Bob Marley’s charitable nature, a portion of the proceeds from each product sold is given to the Marley family’s 1Love.org charity.  “The House of Marley and the MARLEY audio products that bear our family name were created to spread our father’s music and vision to a new generation,” said Cedella Marley, Bob Marley’s daughter.

Are you in Vegas for CES 2011? I am, and we’re doing it big! Nissan’s all-new, all-electric flagship electric car, the 2011 Nissan LEAF, is on display at two separate events during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). First, for CES attendees who want to speak with Nissan representatives and unwind before the first official day of CES, Nissan and Automotive Rhythms are hosting a party at Little Buddha at the Palms Resort and Casino Wednesday, January 5 from 8pm to 12am. The event will feature one-of-a-kind cocktails, decadent appetizers and snacks, and the opportunity to find out more about the future of electric vehicles like the Nissan LEAF. The first 200 attendees to the Plug-in event will receive Best Buy gift cards and all will be entered into drawings for high-end audio prizes from Bowers and Wilkins. During the party, guests will be able to explore Nissan LEAF vehicles that will be parked at the night club for just that purpose. Sign up for this amazing event at Automotive Rhythms. (more…)

Are you tired of charging your noise canceling headphones before a big trip? Or maybe you even forgot to charge the battery before a 7-hour flight to Europe. It happened to me once with Bose’s QuietComfort3s. So I was relegated to using the useless airline headphones. Why not try out other technologies I thought, and looked first to Bowers & Wilkins’ P5 high-fidelity, noise isolating over-the-ear headphones.

OnStar Releases Another Set of Updates

At a recent unveil in New York City OnStar showed me a new set of technologies which includes audio Facebook updates and voice texting which uses the GM vehicle’s bluetooth function. The Facebook feature allows OnStar subscribers to verbally announce their intended update as well as hear their newsfeed through the OnStar Virtual Advisor service. All of this is great, but OnStar also needs to correct its current technologies. More than five occasions have directions sent to my navigation from the advisor conflicted with the address given. On one instance OnStar sent me 20 miles the wrong direction subsequently making me miss a flight. I’m all for new technology, as long as it works as intended!
