2005 Acura MDX: Power, Performance and Protection
When the Acura MDX debuted in 2000, it set the standard for mid-sized SUV power, performance and functionality. Now, five years later, it’s setting the standard for safety as well.
The 2005 Acura MDX, topped the charts of the most recent frontal crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The MDX earned a five-star rating for protecting both driver and crew, not long after the hot-selling SUV achieved the same rating during NHTSA’s side impact tests.
“We are extremely pleased that the MDX is being recognized for its outstanding safety structure,” said Dick Colliver, executive vice president, sales. “When combined with the recent top scores for the new RL luxury performance sedan, this 5-star designation from NHTSA is an acknowledgement of our continuing commitment to safety through innovation in all Acura vehicles.”
The 2005 MDX continues to fly out of Acura showrooms since its debut in 2000. The loaded SUV comes standard with safety features including Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), side curtain airbags, dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags, front side airbags with passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS), and rollover sensors designed to trigger the side curtain airbags in the unlikely event of a rollover.
