Advanced Automatic Crash Notification by OnStar: Guardian Angel

Brian Armstead, 05.24.07

If you are unfortunate enough to be in an accident, safety systems can still go to work for you after the crash. The Advanced Automatic Crash Notification (AACN) by OnStar uses cellular and Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) technology to alert an OnStar advisor that your airbag has deployed, or your vehicle has been involved in a rollover accident. A special sensor measures the severity of the crash and relays that data as well to OnStar, who can then pinpoint the exact location of your crash and contact appropriate emergency services. AACN by OnStar is standard or available on many vehicles in the General Motors family of cars, trucks and SUVs. More than 700 AACN notifications are received monthly by OnStar.
