Rollin 24 Deep: GM All-Car Showdown during NBA All-Star Weekend February 2004 - Hollywood, CA All too many auto companies are loosing grip when it's time to focus in on the urban consumers who support their sales numbers. Not General Motors! As a matter of fact, GM sponsored "The" most heated automotive celebrity affair to honor the "King of Bling." This would be the individual owner of the illest, customized HUMMER or Escalade. Matched by none other, the evening was replete with the Red Carpet, celebs, pro athletes and infamous faces whom had all come to witness the fun-filled competition. Shaquille O'Neil was the evening host of the 24-vehicle showdown. Some of these guys must have mad cow disease because their rides were completely sick! We're talking about HUMMER's with Cadillac facials, Escalades spinning on deuce four's, and combined, enough TV monitors and LCD screens to display in the Best Buy electronics department. A few notable attendees included Nick Cannon, Eric Dickerson,
Boris Kodjoe, Charles Woodson, Gabrielle Union, Snoop, Lennox
Lewis and Little Kim. During some "Automotive Rhythms" conversations
Snoop spoke about his passion for Cadillac's; Woodson has
his eye on the Bentley Continental GT; Anthony Anderson
is about to snag a Hummer; Gabrielle Union owns a basic
Mercedes (when was a Benz ever basic); Keshia Knight Pulliam
(little Rudy Huxtable) rocks a BMW 745 because she needs,
gadgets, buttons and V8 power in her whips; and Lawyer Milloy
loves his H2, but takes out the Ferrari 360 Modena (a Super
Bowl gift to himself) when he feels like stunting. After
all the hype, the Laker's Bryon Russell ascended the throne
as "King of Bling" for his 2003 Royal Blue HUMMER H2. The
event raised $70,000 for various charities.
