 If you crave tranquility and intimacy, this is the place to go. The tropically manicured property has two pools: one that offers a complimentary foot massage and another with a kids' section and a staggering infinity area that blends perfectly with the skyline and sea. A 50-year-old white-washed, Mexican style chapel remains from the original property. Beaches have lazy macramé hammocks strung from shaded straw roofs and there are two top-notch restaurants on the property.
The 250-acre Palmilla Resort is part of a 900-acre community complete with a 27-hole golf course. But, what you really want to know about is the One&Only Spa with a top-notch exercise area and 13 private treatment villas, each with an air-conditioned pavilion that opens onto a garden. We had a two-and-a-half hour body wrap, massage and facial. After our treatments we had a go at the outside whirlpool/bathtub and relaxed on a daybed under a palapa with a cup of herbal tea and fresh fruits.
Yes, this gorgeous property is where the rich and famous go but you’ll probably never see them. At rates that range from $450 to $2,200 a night, you pay big bucks for privacy.
