Codenamed 991, the new Carrera is scheduled to go on sale February 4, 2012 in the United States with a starting price of $82,100. The 2012 991 Carrera S begins at $96,400. Yes, pricing has increased, yet, additional equipment is standard on the new car which was previously optional or not available. Compared to the 997 Carrera, the 991 includes 19” wheels on the Carrera (up from 18s); 20” wheels on the Carrera S (up from 19s); Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with navigation (previously a $2,110 option); Automatic headlamp control; Sport seats with electric height; and backrest inclination adjustment (manual height adjustment was previously standard).
