The 2016 Miami Auto Show was the epicenter for the launch of two new Nissan models including the 2017 Rogue and the 2017 Sentra SR Turbo which will go on sale in October for less than $22,000.
Powering the feisty little SR Turbo is a new 1.6-liter Direct Injection Gasoline turbocharged engine with 188-horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 177-lb-ft of torque. This represents 64 additional horsepower and 52 increased lb-ft of torque over the non-turbo 2017 Sentra SR’s 1.8-liter. An excitable 6-speed manual Xtronic transmission is also partnered with the 1.6-liter for lots of fun in the sun. Enhanced driving dynamics have been inherited from more powerful brakes, tuned suspension, increased handling due to spring rates and damping adjustments and improved torsional rigidity. The steering has been amended specifically for the 2017 Sentra SR Turbo as well.
Aesthetically the SR Turbo shares imaging with the SR while still offering comfort goodies such as the standard sunroof, thicker glass and a redesigned center console for supplementary storage. The sporty, compact performance sedan is blessed with 205/50R17 all-season tires wrapping 10-spoke machined finished aluminum-alloys, the Nissan signature V-Motion grille in chrome, body-colored remote power outside mirrors (heated), chrome door handles, variable intermittent front wipers, side sill spoilers, chrome trunk lid finisher, rear spoiler and a chrome exhaust tip finisher. Seven available exterior colors include Red Alert, Brilliant Silver, Gun Metallic, Super Black, Aspen White (premium color) and Deep Blue Pearl.
To keep matters simple only one option package — SR Turbo Premium Package — will be offered to elevate your ride with an 8-speaker Bose premium audio system, leather seats, NissanConnect with Navigation and Mobile Apps, 5.8” color touch-screen display, Nissan Voice Recognition for audio and navigation, SiriusXM, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and 6-way power driver’s seat with 2-way power lumbar. Enjoy the ride!
