If you’re skeptical about the emotional philosophy of “love at first sight,” then take one glance at the gorgeously refreshed 2025 Aston Martin Vantage Coupe and witness how quickly your mind will change. The front-engined RWD British GT is the latest addition to a nameplate carrying more than 75 years of heritage under its wing. Specifically, the designation manifested from the flagship trim level for the Aston Martin DB5, celebrated for its lead role in the James Bond film Goldfinger.
The new Vantage’s design is a testament to Aston Martin’s modern era, graciously combining flair with ferocity. Its new headlights are inspired by the Vahalla, the marque’s exclusive plug-in hybrid hypercar, while a widened, vaned black grille improves cooling and aerodynamics. Large hips, thicker in the back than the front, house $5,800 staggered 21” Satin Black Y spoke forged rims and Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tires that are stickier than super glue. This summer tire is designed for enthusiasts who want maximum handling at higher speeds. The optional $1,900 yellow calipers are a nice touch and pair with upgradeable $14,400 carbon ceramic discs for race-like stopping power.

The eye-popping $9,700 Podium Green hue highlighting our test car is borrowed from the automaker’s Formula One team but reminds us of the Eagles Green worn by America’s current Super Bowl champs. That’s right; there is nothing wrong with bleeding Green. A contrasting upper and lower Black Pack consisting of a serious Gloss Black front splitter, rocker panels, mirrors, and an exaggerated rear diffuser combine for supreme aero and downforce and visual stimulation. Yet, Aston Martin needs to incorporate a front end lift mechanism since steep driveways will tag the underbody more often than not. Small implementations such as the rear taillamps with the wings of the Aston Martin embedded within and slightly raising swan doors indicate design perfection.

“As we enter a period of pivotal change in the world of high-performance cars, it is essential to remain true to those qualities upon which a legendary marque has been built,” stated Aston Martin Chief Executive Officer Amedeo Felisa. “Any car bearing the Vantage name has much to live up to, which is why this newest model makes an unwavering commitment to high performance in its purest and most explicit form.”

Under the vessel’s hood lies a heralded engine many may recognize as the hand-built 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 sourced from Mercedes-AMG. However, this is more than just a simple swap as the crafty engineers at Aston Martin increased output to 656-horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque for thunderous acceleration. Along with a brilliantly responsive 8-speed ZF automatic transmission with massively long paddle shifters connected to the sporty steering wheel, the Vantage reaches 0-60 in just 3.4 seconds and hits a top speed of 202 mph.

The Vantage is engineered with five diverse Drive Modes: Wet, Sport, Sport+, Track, and Individual. Wet Mode remaps the engine and stability control to help the coupe remain stable in non-optimal weather conditions, while Sport is the default setting for casual everyday driving. Sport+ and Track are where the real fun is, with suspension and throttle response acclimated for aggressive, spirited driving. Lastly, Individual Mode allows you to tweak the vehicle’s characteristics to your liking. Additionally, engaging the manual setting while downshifting with the left paddle to accelerate abruptly was thrilling. My passengers- engineering students from Howard University- felt the same since each began howling when I floored it. The controlled power was infectious and simultaneously kept our metabolisms burning all day. An Electronic Rear Differential and Dynamic Torque Vectoring are equipped to enhance performance even further for thrill seekers wishing to push their Vantage to the limit.

Inside, Aston Martin perfectly mixes the aggressive layout of a racecar with the eloquence of a luxury tourer. The roomy cockpit is adorned with Onyx Black Haircell Leather, omnipresent physical buttons, dials, and scrollers, an Alcantara headliner, contrast stitching, and Satin carbon fiber trim. A 10.25” TFT touchscreen central display and 10.25” TFT driver information display power your data, mapping, and infotainment, but I would like to see more advancements in the multimedia features. There’s also a crucial blind spot behind the B-pillar. However, the $10,000 Bowers & Wilkins Audio System is a must if you are an audiophile!
Every now and then something special comes along to uplift your day and brighten up your mood. For us, that came in the form of the Aston Martin Vantage Coupe. Pricing starts at $191,000 ($264,300 as tested).
