In today’s truck news, Ram is pushing back the release of its all-electric 1500 REV until 2026 and promoting the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger advanced series plug-in hybrid pickup to the top of its electrification pecking order. Initially, the plan was to release the Ram 1500 REV in the first half of 2025. The change in plans is partly due to the slowdown of truck lovers’ desire for a half-ton BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) pickup.
“With unlimited battery-electric range, the Ram 1500 Ramcharger is the pinnacle of the light-duty pickup truck segment and the ultimate electric truck,” said Tim Kuniskis, Ram brand CEO – Stellantis. “The new Ramcharger is a beast of a light duty – 663 horsepower, 615 lb.-ft of torque, 4-second 0-60 mph, 14,000 lbs. of towing… and zero need for a public charger.”

The scenario is no problem since the 1500 Ramcharger’s advanced hybrid powertrain incorporates a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, an on-board 130 kW generator, and a liquid-cooled 92 kWh battery pack. It achieves up to 690 miles of driving range, of which 145 miles is produced from the e-motors. Interestingly, there is no mechanical connection between the gas engine and the wheels, just electrons powering the front and rear electric drive modules. Additionally, the gasoline engine is tuned to operate at maximum efficiency while powering the generator, subsequently producing more electricity and giving customers additional range compared to a BEV or ICE truck.

Drivers will enjoy impressive ride and handling, a multi-link independent rear suspension with standard, segment-exclusive, active-level, four-corner air suspension. The adjustable air suspension enables five different modes: entry/exit, aero, normal, off-road 1 and off-road 2. The tech-savvy truck’s performance capabilities are top-notch as well, accomplishing the following:
- 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds
- 663-horsepower and over 615 lb.-ft. of torque
- Up to 14,000 pounds of towing with a class 5 hitch
- Payload capacity of 2,625 pounds
Moreover, if an outage occurs the Ramcharger can power your home for up to 30 days. It is engineered with vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-home bi-directional charging, where energy is sent back to the grid. A host of leading-edge technology features has been incorporated into the segment’s defining interior, including the advanced Uconnect 5 system with a new 14.5-inch touchscreen, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a segment-first 10.25-inch passenger screen, digital rearview mirror, Head-up Display (HUD) and a Klipsch Reference Premiere audio system.
The Ram 1500 Ramcharger is helping the truck market transition to greater electrification by delivering a steadfast solution for owners looking for power, towing, extended range, and efficiency—especially in markets where the infrastructure for EVs is still being developed.
