Based on the critically acclaimed V8 Vantage Coupe, the GT4 Grand Am is a racecar with a bespoke 4.7-liter engine that cranks out 420 horsepower along with 346 lb.-ft of torque. The advanced body structure of the Vantage V8 is the key to its superior handling and responsiveness making it an ideal class-leading chassis for racecar development.
The GT4 will join the domestic race circuit following five successful seasons in Europe and elsewhere around the world. Multimatic Motorsports has been appointed by Aston Martin Racing as its official partner, campaigning two cars in the Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge for the 2012 season. Multmatic is based in Toronto and has won the championship three times since the series beginning in 2000.
The lead car will be driven by Multimatic regulars and proven race-winners Scott Maxwell and Joe Foster. The second car will be driven by movie star Patrick Dempsey, partnered with Chris Porritt, Aston Martin Chief Engineer and experienced Vantage GT4 racer in the opening round of the series. The series kicks off with a test session at the Daytona International Speedway ahead of the prestigious opening round at the same circuit on January 27, 2012. Following the season opener at Daytona, the series takes in an additional nine rounds with races at such iconic locations as Watkins Glen International, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Laguna Seca, with the season wrapping up at Lime Rick Park in Connecticut September 28th-30th.
