Bentley bows with two new V8 models at the Detroit North American International Auto Show, poised to complement the flagship 6.0 liter W12 GT and GTC models.
The new 4.0 liter, twin turbocharged V8 Continental GT coupé and GTC convertible achieve exceptional standards for power-to-emissions in the high luxury sports car sector.
This new V8 engine delivers 500 horsepower at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 487 lb-ft. available from 1,700 to 5,000 rpm. The new V8 mates to a new close-ratio 8-speed automatic transmission, capable of moving from 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds for the GT with a top speed of 188 mph. Even so, the new V8 provides a range of up to 500 miles per tank of gas and features variable displacement with a sophisticated engine management system. This ensures a seamless and imperceptible transition from V8 to V4 mode under light throttle load. Also featured is high-pressure direct injection.
Both models are specified with 20-inch alloy wheels as standard with an optional 21?inch six-spoke design, is available in dramatic Diamond Black (exclusive to the Continental V8) or Diamond Silver finishes. Inside the cabin, an Eliade cloth headlining, new contemporary Dark Fiddleback Eucalyptus veneers, optional two-tone leather color split and short center console continue the fresh, sporting design theme.
Both new models feature a state-of-the-art, all-wheel drive system employing an advanced Torsen differential and a 40:60 rear biased power split. This ensures safe yet dynamic sports car handling in all road conditions. MSRP for the GT Coupe is $172,527 while the GTC will retail at $189,780.
