IndyCar and Detroit natives alike had something to cheer about as the Motor City welcomed back the Grand Prix since its departure in 2008. The temporary street circuit on the island of Belle Isle is one of six such IndyCar road tracks in the world including St. Petersburg, Long Beach, Sau Paulo, Baltimore and Qingdao, China. Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti enters the stage with much momentum against a tough cast of racers such as Will Power, Tony Kanaan, Rubens Barrichello, Mario Andretti, James Hinchcliffe, Ryan Hunter-Reay, and of course, Spider-Man himself, Helio Castroneves who won his first race at Belle Isle. Some of the fun and festive weekend activities included hot laps in the Camaro SS, pit crew competitions, celebrity autographs, driver interviews, fan walks, and much more. See you next year!
