Leading up to the 2014 Grammy’s, ESSENCE magazine hosted its 5th annual Black Women in Music event presented by the Lincoln Motor Company. This highly anticipated evening honored British singer Emeli Sandé who is known for her signature style, powerful lyrics and international appeal as an emerging artist. This year’s affair also highlighted the all-new Lincoln MKC luxury cross-over vehicle which was the main attraction for celebrity guests arriving on the energetic red carpet.
Emeli Sandé captivated the audience with her hits “My Kind of Love,” “Next to Me,” and a collaboration with Naughty Boy. Not only did the singer exclusively entertain the high-profile audience during her performance at 1OAK in West Hollywood, CA but she is also featured in a 7-part film series for Lincoln’s “Journey” campaign, which encompasses an exploration of inspiration, entrepreneurship and talented individuals who have followed their dreams. In the program Emeli shares intimate details of her journey to find unconditional love through music.
Now in its fifth year, the ESSENCE Black Women in Music event is an anchor during Grammy week, where music meets Hollywood and VIP guests celebrate and embrace emerging artists. For 2014, attendance included Mara Brock and Salim Akil, Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child, Joe Morton of Scandal, Vivica A. Fox, SWV, Daphne Wayans and many more.
