Thoroughly Wash Vehicle: Washing removes loose surface dirt, salt, and road film and allows you to keep additional contaminants from building up on the surface. It is always important to give your car a very thorough washing to remove these contaminants that have built up during winter to help prevent premature corrosion. This is done by using a premium car wash product such as Meguiar’s® Ultimate Wash & Wax, as well as a high quality wash mitt. It is also important to wash your wheel wells and undercarriage with a safe cleaner such as Meguiar’s Ultimate All Wheel Cleaner and high pressure to rid the dirtiest winter weather.
Vacuum and Refresh: Remove any trash that may be accumulating in door pockets, between seats, and hiding in other nooks and crannies within the interior on a regular basis. Brush and vacuum all carpet and upholstery frequently, especially floor mats that collect dirt and debris from shoes. If the interior has lost that new car scent Meguiar’s suggests their Carpet & Cloth Re-Fresher Odor Eliminator to bring back that feeling. Simply spray on carpet and cloth surfaces and it will permanently eliminate any unwanted odors while leaving behind a refreshing new car scent.*
Clean Commonly Used Surfaces: Surfaces that drivers come in contact with on a daily basis like the steering wheel, door handles, shift knob, and hand brake are often overlooked when it comes to cleaning. These hand controls that are used frequently can quickly accumulate dirt, grime, grease, and oils from our skin. To prevent an unhealthy, and unsightly layer from settling, make sure to wipe down these areas often with a non-greasy, non-slippery interior wipe such as Meguiar’s® Quik Interior Detailer Wipes. These handy wipes quickly and safely clean all interior surfaces, including NAV screens, while offering sun blocking agents to help preserve the original appearance of your interior.
Check your cooling system: As temperatures change, it’s important to inspect your antifreeze/coolant to make sure it’s free of debris and contaminants. If you notice an issue, flush and fill your system with a mixture of 50 percent concentrated antifreeze and 50 percent distilled water. If your reservoir is low, top off with Prestone® 50/50 Prediluted Antifreeze/Coolant with patented Cor-Guard® corrosion inhibitors. Prestone with Cor-Guard is five times more effective at protecting against corrosion than the leading branded competitor. Next, using a Prestone antifreeze tester, check the concentration of your antifreeze. The ideal mixture is 50 percent antifreeze and 50 percent distilled water. If the concentration is low, use Prestone® Concentrate Antifreeze/Coolant with Cor-Guard® to bring your fluid to a 50/50 level.
Ensure your windshield stays clear: With spring and summer road trips on the horizon, it’s imperative to keep your windshield clear and free of debris. Fill your washer fluid reservoir with Prestone® Bug Wash® Windshield Washer Fluid, which removes bug residue, road grime, bird droppings and tree sap from windshields, leaving behind a streak-free shine with a fresh citrus scent.
