To kick off the 2016 Miami Auto Show Nissan’s Jose Munoz unveiled the all-new 2017 Rogue to a group of national media in Miami Beach, Florida at the 1111 Lincoln Road parking structure. The next level compact SUV continues Nissan’s strong growth in the market segment as they release refreshed products for their Nissan “Year of the Truck” mission and celebration. Also expect for the first time a full hybrid Rogue model.
“There are so many enhancements to Rogue for 2017, with every one of them designed to enhance its appeal with the fastest growing segment of buyers in the industry,” said Michael Bunce, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America, Inc. “The crowning achievement is the addition of the new Rogue Hybrid, which increases fuel efficiency without compromising passenger roominess or cargo utility.”
The latest generation of Rogue is expected to become Nissan’s sales leader next year and help the Japanese brand advance its momentous SUV onslaught which includes the Armada, Pathfinder and Titan. The technologically laden, compact SUV has been blessed with three consecutive years of sales growth and will follow up with a fresh facelift, more utility features and additional Nissan Safety Shield systems. For example the rear doors open 77 degrees for easier entry and exit into the second row and a Motion-Activated Liftgate uses kick sensors to raise and close the tailgate when your hands are full with groceries or sports equipment.
During the kick-off event guests mingled, ate well and enjoyed the Miami scenery and music before the Rogue rolled up with enthusiasm. Jose Munoz, chairman, Nissan North America, Inc., spoke passionately about the importance of Rogue to the company and its bevy of newfangled enhancements including the Hybrid model (mpg boosts over the gasoline models) with an expected economy of 35 highway mpg for FWD Rogues. The Rogue Hybrid features a 4-cylinder engine, compact Lithium-ion battery and electric motor to get the vehicle moving eco-friendly from the one-motor and two-clutch package dubbed Intelligent Dual Clutch system.
The vehicle has the ability to hold seven passengers with the optional 3rd row and increased cargo and seating configurability are presented by way of 18 adjustments with Nissan’s EZ Flex Seating System and Divide-N-Hide Cargo System (not available with Rogue Hybrid). The chiseled Rogue is edgier and more dynamic than its predecessor and can keep you safe and sound with Intelligent Cruise Control, Active Trace Control, Active Engine Braking, Active Ride Control and Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection. Everything from the center console and shifter to the steering wheel and materials have been either upgraded or redesigned for that premium feel consumers are looking for in value vehicles. A Platinum Reserve Interior Package is also new and gives your Rogue SL tan leather and appointed seats with special quilted leather inserts.
The 2017 Nissan Rogue will debut as either the Rogue S, Rogue SV or Rogue SL. Customers have nine exterior hues to choose from and can go with FWD or AWD. The 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine puts out a respectable 170-horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque and is paired with the Xtronic transmission with standard Sport Mode and Eco modes. Expect to see the latest Nissan Rogue on the streets by the end of 2016.
