ModaMiami Dominates the Weekend with Over 400 Collector Cars at Inaugural Miami Event

ModaMiami celebrates the successful launch of its inaugural, multi-day event at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables this past weekend. Staking its claim as the ultimate automotive and luxury event on America’s East Coast, ModaMiami attendees traveled from across the globe to share their collections, witness the most sought-after vehicles, partake in exclusive auctions and luxury shopping opportunities, and experience the very best in hospitality and world-class cuisine. This true lifestyle event elevated and refined the traditional Concours, and saw Miami-Dade Commissioner, Kevin Marino Cabrera deliver a special proclamation that March 3 will be officially known as ‘ModaMiami Day’.

“The goal for ModaMiami’s inaugural year was to cultivate our unique culture and atmosphere while establishing the weekend as a key event across the industry,” said Rob Myers, CEO and Chairman of RM Sotheby’s. “Thanks to the wonderful attendees, our hardworking team, incredible sponsors, vendors, and local officials, we accomplished that goal. The event was a huge success, and we can’t wait to continue raising the bar for years to come.”

The event kicked off in style as Mario Carbone, famed Italian American restaurateur provided VIP guests with a specially curated menu and dining experience. Continued throughout the weekend, the iconic Casa Tua Club popped up offering guests unparalleled hospitality overlooking the showfield. Guests were treated to a variety of experiences over the multi-day event, including luxury shopping with Sotheby’s, pool performances by the Aqualillies, luxury manufacturer test drives, and a lavish dinner party ‘under the stars’ at Concours de Nuit, to name just a few.

ModaMiami recognizes that the significance and importance of an object can only be truly determined by the reactions of the people who stand in front of it, admiring it. Knowing this, cars were not judged as they are at traditional concours events, but rather reviewed, voted on, and celebrated as ‘best of collection’ by peers.

Awards for the “Star of the Show” included:

  • 1932 Duesenberg Model J Sports Torpedo shown by Lee & Penny Anderson
  • 1931 Damiler Double Six 50 Drop Head Coupe shown by The Lee Collection
  • 1933 Delage D8S Roadster shown by Patterson Collection

  • 1924 Isotta Fraschi Tipo 8A Cabriolet shown by Lee & Penny Anders
  • 1936 Lancia Astura “Tipo Bocca” Cabriolet S III shown by Lee & Penny Anderson

Extending beyond the ‘Best of Collection’ voting, the People’s Choice Award was presented to the much-admired 1998 McLaren F1 “LM-Specification” shown from a Private Collection, and the ‘Participant’s Award’, the ‘Best of Showfield’ as voted by entrants, was awarded to the 1935 Duesenberg Model SJ “Mormon Meteor” shown by noted Ohio-based collector, Harry Yeaggy.
