Special Edition Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse Sells for $2.5 Million at Quail


To kick off the Monterey Auto Week, Bugatti debuted a special edition Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse in a unique Bianco and New Light Blue hue for the first time publicly at “The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering”. The color combination is based on the famous Type 37A, which was built in 1928, won a multitude of Grand Prix races in its time and is now owned by Jay Leno.

The latest Bugatti was so magnetic at Quail that it had no problem selling for $2.5 million dollars (excluding tax and destination) during the beautiful afternoon. Let’s see why. The AWD Grand Sport Vitesse roadster is powered by a W16 engine that generates 1,200 horsepower and accelerates to 62 mph in 2.6 seconds, while top speed is an impressive 255 mph. It’s now the fastest production roadster ever. Four turbochargers; a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG); lighter 20” Vitesse-type alloy wheels; a new roof spoiler; and larger air intakes help deliver the additional 199 horsepower increase over the Grand Sport.


Carbon fiber along with stainless metals such as aluminum and magnesium dominate the interior of the Vitesse. Numerous interior parts are now made from carbon fiber including the center console extension, a cover with EB logo in the rear-bulkhead leather trim, and the belt outlet covers on the seats. The décor on the center console, the door inserts and the adjoining trim on the instrument panel are also made from carbon fiber. Contrast stitching is also featured on the leather armrest between the seats. Lastly, the power gauge now goes up to 1,200 horsepower!

“We were instantly electrified by the idea of transferring the power of the Super Sport to the Grand Sport, which previously delivered a maximum of 1,001 horsepower, and thus taking the roadster to a new level,” says Wolfgang Dürheimer. The President of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. continues: “Our team has managed to transfer the world’s most powerful car engine to the open-top sports car while taking all vehicle dynamics and aerodynamic parameters into consideration.”
