Subaru signed on as exclusive automotive sponsor of the 2012 Men’s Health Urbanathlon & Festival. This unique, 9.5-11 mile competition combines traditional road race elements with rigorous obstacles and sets them against a backdrop of iconic city landmarks.
“Urbanathlon fans are the ultimate adventure seekers so we knew this race series would perfect for introducing the ready-for-anything 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek,” said Tim Tagye, Subaru sponsorship and promotions manager. “The all-new XV Crosstrek is the most efficient all-wheel drive compact SUV in America. Its no-compromise versatility supports active lifestyles in any environment; we are excited to showcase it amongst these amazing urban athletes.”
This is the seventh annual signature Urbanathlon event produced by Men’s Health, the world’s largest men’s magazine. Highlights of this year’s rigorous and demanding courses include: Stair climbs in Soldier Field (Chicago), Citi Field and Arthur Ashe Stadium (New York), AT&T Park (San Francisco), tire stutter-stepping, climbing over marine hurdles, over-under traffic barricade obstacles, traversing monkey bars, taxi cab hurdles, scaling a bus, and crawling under the Subaru XV Crosstrek obstacle before heading to the 8-foot wall at the finish lines.
The car-maker will hold a push-up contest and Trek bicycle raffle at each location. The events are free and open to the public. Automotive Rhythms president and Fit Fathers’ founder Kimatni D. Rawlins participated in the Chicago kick-off last week and had a ball. “Not only does it test your stamina and endurance though the 11-mile course, but also will and determination as you tackle the course’s cadre of muscle burning obstacles,” said Kimatni. “It’s absolutely amazing!”
