Ultra-High-Performance Lucid Gravity SUV Hypnotizes Audiences at the LA Auto Show

Well, if you could get up close and personal with the Ultra-High-Performance Lucid Gravity SUV during media day at the Lose Angeles, congrats. The all-electric full-size premium SUV stayed busy after Derek Jenkins’ press conference. Thankfully, we achieved specific details from Lucid’s Senior Vice President of Design and Brand.

Based on the Lucid Space Concept, the exotic three-row, 7-passenger SUV has an electric driving range above 440 miles and accelerates from 0-60 mph in less than 3.5 seconds. And yet, Gravity still possesses typical SUV attributes such as 6,000 pounds of towing capacity and a payload capacity of over 1,500 pounds. Owners will most likely install a 240V level 2 home charger, but when on the go, Gravity’s 900V architecture allows up to 200 miles of range in about 15 minutes, making it one of the fastest EV charging systems globally.

Of course, from a design standpoint, Derek said there were challenges transitioning from the supreme sportiness and dynamics of the Lucid Air into an SUV that needed to provide off-road adventure, captivating styling, and impeccable comfort for the entire family. But here we are with an admirable final product.

“At Lucid, we believe in pushing the boundaries of design. We have leaned into this belief to maximize spaciousness, aerodynamic efficiency, and utility, resulting in an electric SUV with a previously unseen blend of attributes,” said Derek Jenkins, Senior Vice President of Design and Brand at Lucid. “Whether it’s a cargo-swallowing SUV for family camping trips or a long-range grand tourer covering hundreds of miles between stops, Gravity is designed to be versatile.”

A few standout elements of the Lucid SUV include the clamshell rear opening and an extra-large frunk with innovative convenience features, which many showgoers including myself took pictures from while leaning inside the storage space. Additionally, the Clearview Cockpit features an intuitive 34” curved OLED display that sits above the SUV’s advanced new steering wheel.

Lucid has aligned with the pros at Meditopia to offer a guided meditation experience that provides intimate space for mindfulness without leaving the cockpit. Sustainably crafted with eco-consciousness and enlightenment for holistic human engagement, the Lucid Gravity will enter the scene later in 2024 with a starting price under $80,000.
