Mercedes-Benz has added yet another stalwart player to its deep and almost untouchable roster. Welcome the new 2013 G63 AMG as it impresses with a state-of-the-art engine, expressive new design and improved efficiency. All this is largely attributable to the AMG 5.5-liter biturbo V8 delivering 544 horsepower, 560 lb.-ft. of torque, and the AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7-speed automatic transmission. Collectively this enables the G63 to accelerate from 0 mph to 60 mph in a hefty 5.3 seconds, with a top speed of 130 mph. The “strong man” in the AMG model range has been further enhanced with cutting-edge systems such as spray-controlled gasoline direct injection, an ECO stop/start function and alternator management. Expect to see the G-Class compete for playing time in August.
