In the land of palm trees, sunny skies and sandy beaches, the eye-catching sports machines that usually light up the strip are Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Bugattis or other exotics on any given Sunday. But I was blessed to have the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S 4MATIC Wagon to sizzle the streets from our good friends at Prestige Auto. The E63 AMG 4MATIC for example — with its hand-built AMG biturbo 5.5-liter V8 produces 577-horsepower, 590 lb-ft of torque and escapes from 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds — sets you in the same speed stratosphere of many of your favorite supercars. And please note, this is not the wagon for soccer moms, it is one for super moms and Fit Fathers requesting the power and dynamics of a sports car.
The weekend getaway was a well-needed break from the hustle and bustle of Washington D.C. Not saying that Miami is a lethargic town but it is quite relaxing to rise early for morning runs on the beach, swim laps in the pool and dine at the local, organic cafes while enjoying good food and taking in the sights. As much as I would have loved to spend every possible moment in M-B’s magnificent vehicle, it was a must observing the beauty of the beach with some fun in the sun. Though, once we made it out to the highway I did not waste any time before I dialed in the 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT transmission’s Sport and Sport + modes (four modes in total). The quicker shift speeds marked my arrival times for our fashion show events and Beyonce concert earlier than expected. Mercedes-Benz’ 4MATIC AWD is a high-performance automobile with explosive acceleration and excellent handling in tight corners. Immediately I felt a rush and was nearing supercar optimization. AMG’s ceramic, composite braking system honing 6-piston front red calipers and 4-piston rear red calipers are absolutely needed to slow down this German beast from greatness. My high-octane, luxury wagon is not common spotting around town which made it that more special and only has the Cadillac CTS-V Wagon currently positioned as its true rival. It might not be as opulent and technologically savvy as as the Benz, but the 556 horses under the Caddy’s hood are a force to be reckoned with.
Throughout the Miami weekend I received numerous compliments and praise ranging from the German’s lovely brown skin tone and carbon-fiber packages to its 10-spoke, light-alloy, Titanium Grey AMG rims and stunning Nappa leather. Bang & Olufsen’s BeoSound audio system was also amazing and kept me confused between its positive vibrations and the soundtrack of the AMG V8. Tunes were crystal clear with enough range to help feel that deep bass when it dropped.
Miami 2014 was indeed an impeccable weekend to enjoy the beach life in the 2014 E63 AMG S 4MATIC Wagon. We’re looking forward to many more pleasantries with the 2015 model year AMGs. Stay tuned!
