The Genesis G90 Black is one of the most seductive vehicles I’ve ever driven. And that’s not an overstatement. Athletic Elegance is represented in every respect from the sinister executive sports sedan. The trim now carries an official name, Prestige Black, and as of the 2026 model year it stands as a genuine offering for American buyers rather than a Korean exclusive we admired from afar.
As the name implies, every feature remains blacked out, including the 21-inch dark alloy 5-star wheels wrapped in Michelin rubber, the radiator crest grille, front insignia, brake calipers, and the full cabin. Genesis extended the same treatment to the G80, GV80, and GV80 Coupe, proof that the brand intends for this design language to run through its entire lineup.
For connoisseurs of sporty, luxuriant sedans, this Genesis long-body competes admirably with the Lexus LS, Audi A8, BMW 7 Series, Porsche Panamera, and Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The official MSRP lands at $105,750, plus $1,495 for destination. The vehicle arrives complete from the inside out and needs no further implementation. American buyers can choose between two exterior hues: Vik Black is a Pure Black brought to life with Black Diamond Pearl particles that are inspired by a volcanic beach off the coast of southern Iceland. Even with subtle lines that Genesis designers describe as Harmony with Nature, the G90 Prestige Black sits as confident as the Army’s Black Knights. Power comes from a 3.5-liter twin-turbo gasoline engine paired with a 48-volt electric supercharger, an 8-speed automatic transmission, and AWD. Rear-wheel steering adds maneuverability while the Multi Chamber Air Suspension refines road manners.
Inside the all-black cockpit, owners will enjoy semi-aniline leather with exclusive quilting, Black Ash open-pore wood trim accented by a brass-colored G Matrix inlay, anodized black speaker grilles, and black dials and switches. Genesis calls the theme Obsidian Black Monotone, and it suits the car. Music lovers will appreciate the 23-speaker Bang & Olufsen Premiere 3D sound system with speakers built directly into the headrests. This detail outperforms anything you’d expect from a typical cabin audio setup. Reclining rear First Class VIP Seats and sunshades put you in a relaxing mode when you allow someone else to take the wheel.
The design philosophy leans on eco-conscious materials as part of Genesis’ wider commitment geared to sustainable luxury. For example, the exclusive vehicle mats extract cellulose from beech trees rather than petroleum plastics. Non-toxic solvents and plant-derived substances protect passenger health throughout the cabin, while flax and rapeseed oils serve as natural softeners applied to the leather during processing.
Behind the wheel, the staggered dark alloys and Michelin performance tires give the G90 Prestige Black a dominant profile that photographs even better. The Bang & Olufsen system earns every bit of its reputation, and hearing sound emerge from the headrests themselves is a small marvel each time you settle in. The crest grille comes across bold and empowering, a fitting face for a luxury liner this serious. Drop it into Sport mode as I did often, and the demeanor shifts immediately. Steering tightens, throttle response sharpens noticeably, and the diamond stitched leather seats hold front occupants the way a mother embraces her infant, close and secure. My one reservation is the steering wheel. It doesn’t match the rest of the vehicle’s flair and could use a sportier shape with a thicker perimeter. The rear lounge seats, meanwhile, are ultra-comfortable, and the digital center controller puts most cabin features within your operation.
Genesis made it official from Fountain Valley, California, introducing Prestige Black to the American and Canadian markets for the 2026 model year across the lineup. What began as a run of 300 to 400 units annually in South Korea has become a genuine American option. I even had Korean naysayers fall in love with my weekly G90 Prestige Black loaner. Genesis is definitely overachieving!
