Meet the Fastest Corvette Ever: The 2025 Chevy Corvette ZR1

By Kevin L. Vaughn, Automotive Rhythms

One of America’s most respected sports cars hits the track with more performance than ever. First revealed in Miami in July, the 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is the 5th Corvette model in the automaker’s history to be equipped with the special ZR1 high-performance package.

Like the Detroit Lions’ set of dual-threat running backs, the newest model is agile and powerful and boasts a whopping 1,064-horsepower and and 828 lb-ft of torque straight from the factory. The mid-engine 5.7-liter twin-turbocharged V8 monster is the fastest car built by an American automaker, with a tested 0-60 time of 2.3 seconds and a top speed of 233 mph. To put that in perspective, the ZR1 reaches 60 mph quicker than all other current Corvette models, the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, a tri-motor Tesla Cybertruck, or a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport.

The C8 ZR1 can be optioned with the ZTK Performance Package, which features carbon fiber aero and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R legal track tires, enhancing the sporty Corvette with aerodynamic corner-carving capabilities. Thanks to the added carbon aero, the ZR1 puts down 1,200 lbs of downforce at max speed, helping the Vette stick to the tarmac while flying down the straight.

Recently, the competing Ford Mustang GTD — another American-made track-day warrior — finished the grueling Nürburgring Nordschleife lap in under seven minutes (6:57:685). With the ZR1 entering production next year, it’s safe to say that the Chevy will beat that time without breaking a sweat.

“The 2025 Corvette ZR1 yet again exceeded our expectations,” said Josh Holder, chief engineer, Corvette. “Combined with a top speed record of 233 mph – which is unrivaled by any current production car priced under $1 million – the Corvette ZR1 delivers on its mission to provide customers unrelenting power.”
