Acura NEXERA Vision Concept: The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering

Acura debuted the NEXERA Vision Concept today at The Quail, showcasing the Japanese automaker’s new ethos ahead of its production debut on the 2028 RDX Hybrid. It features a sleek, coupe body, forged carbon-fiber accents, an active rear spoiler, automatic scissor doors, and lighting that shines through the bodywork front and rear.

The NEXERA Vision was imagined at the  Acura Design California studio in Los Angeles, under the direction of Yasutake Tsuchida, the brand’s new Creative Director and Vice President of Auto Design. The concept previews the styling language for future Acura models.

“We are using the 40th anniversary of Acura as a springboard to our future, with the Acura NEXERA Vision serving as the design language for future Acura models,” said Yasutake Tsuchida, Acura Creative Director and Vice President of Auto Design. “Our goal with this new design direction is to define Acura performance through disciplined proportions, sculpted form and the seamless integration of advanced technology, creating an expression that is both progressive and authentic to the brand.”

Exterior Design

The NEXERA Vision pairs classic proportion with dramatic detailing: dual-hinge butterfly doors, active aerodynamics, and a new lighting signature. It’s finished in Matte Titanium, a color with deep metallic character, and its profile is defined by a wide stance, a long dash-to-axle ratio, and a one-motion cabin.

Sculpted, muscular surfaces and an aero-channel fascia give the coupe its performance stance. An active rear spoiler manages airflow over the rear decklid, improving aerodynamic efficiency, high-speed stability, and braking performance. The dual-hinge butterfly doors mark the coupe’s entry as a statement of Acura’s performance identity.

Carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes sit behind 22-inch centerlock wheels, a first for Acura, finished in matte anodized 3D directional design with forged carbon fiber inserts. Forged carbon also appears in the aero-channel fascia, rear diffuser, rocker panels, inner door structures, and other details.

Lighting Signature

Hidden within the bodywork, “phantom lighting” appears only when illuminated, keeping the coupe’s surfacing uninterrupted when the lights are off. The ultra-thin headlights and taillights draw from Acura’s “A” mark, forming a new signature that will carry into future production models, beginning with the next-generation RDX Hybrid.

“To reinforce the new Acura styling identity, we developed a unique lighting signature inspired by the Acura ‘A’ mark—an unmistakable design element created to make this new era of Acura instantly recognizable,” said Tsuchida. “The NEXERA Vision sets the course for the next generation of Acura design, and we are committed to evolving that direction with clarity, consistency and purpose across future Acura products.”

Interior

Inside, the NEXERA Vision balances open space with a tighter, more focused driving position. Every surface is built around performance, stripped of distraction to sharpen the feel of driving. The front seats are fixed into the floor, lowering the driver’s position considerably. Rather than the seat moving, the pedals and steering wheel adjust to the driver instead.

The cabin runs black and white, mixing sustainable materials and forged carbon with gloss black finishes and pink accents for contrast. Sustainable materials include recycled aluminum, Alcantara made with certified post-consumer recycled polyester, and CircuLeather, a genuine leather built for a more circular lifecycle.

“Sustainability is playing an increasingly important role in how premium quality and performance are defined, and the Acura brand is embracing innovative material technologies that bring fresh possibilities to the customer experience while supporting broader environmental ambitions,” Tsuchida added. “These advancements help reduce the carbon footprint associated with our products and create new opportunities to challenge conventional ideas of quality, inspiring a new perspective on what premium can be.”

The Acura NEXERA Vision made its world debut at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, on Friday, Aug. 14. It will appear next at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Concept Lawn on Sunday, Aug. 16.
