Who wouldn’t want to outfit their vehicle with the expertise and industry insight of a tire brand that has been producing automotive rubber for 130 years? Moreover, Uniroyal falls under the Michelin wheelhouse for greater owner confidence and technological advances. Thus, when it was time to update one of Automotive Rhythms’ long-term loaners, a Ford Mustang 5.0, we chose the Uniroyal Power Paw A/S tire.
Launched in 2022, the Power Paw A/S tire is akin to felines that grip surfaces and maneuver easily from their claws, while possessing exceptional grappling capabilities. This particular line focuses on ultra-high performance while providing daily drivers self-assurance from long-lasting tread life. The brand name also equates to “value” bundled in a sleek package with a modern-day look and feel. Of course, a new set of tires can become quite an expense — especially when unexpected — so it is good to know that Uniroyal will not break your bank. You can additionally expect a 45,000-mile warranty from the manufacturer.
“Consumers who are looking for a budget-friendly, all-season tire will find it in the new Uniroyal Power Paw A/S,” said Jay Wright, brand director for Uniroyal Tires. “Drivers need and want an ultra-high-performance tire they can trust.”
During the week of our installation, it rained five consecutive days. However, the miserable weather conditions gave me an idea of the tire’s stopping power and traction maneuvers on the wet roads of my neighborhood and surrounding areas. I was pleasantly pleased behind the wheel of our Power Paw A/S outfitted Mustang. I live in Marland, so we experience all four seasons, which is why an “all-season” tire is best for our rides. If I were in Nevada, Florida, or Arizona, I would probably steer toward a “summer tire.” If I resided in Boston or Colorado, where you experience consistent cold and snowy conditions, I would go with a “winter tire.” Thus, ideally, an “all-season” does its best with warm weather and dependably when the temperature drops.
Uniroyal states that the Power Paw A/S tire offers the following benefits for your driving needs:
- Tru-Last Technology gives you long, even tread wear by managing stress within the tire footprint. When tested for tread wear, the Uniroyal Power Paw A/S tire lasted at least 20% longer than its predecessor.
- Wide, circumferential tread grooves and a new all-season compound are engineered to give you a confident ride.
- The computer-phased and optimized tread design provides an ultra-high-performance tire designed for a quiet, comfortable ride.
Offered in 35 tire sizes from 16s to 20s, you should have no problem finding your vehicle’s exact Power Paw fitment. We chose a 255/40/ZR19 for our Ford muscle car for the perfect balance of lateral grip, acceleration, and braking power. This line represents an overall brand refresh, including the Tiger Paw Touring A/S for passenger vehicles and CUVs/SUVs.
Aside from the Power Paw A/S, Uniroyal produces admired tire lines such as the Tiger Paw and Laredo for SUVs, light trucks, passenger vehicles, and commercial vehicles. And here is a fun fact if you visit the Detroit area: the 80-foot-tall Uniroyal tire displayed on Interstate 94 has been entertaining commuters since 1966!
